Section 2 – Scope of Work and Progress:

Scope of Work:

• A 6km section between Mt Gnomon Farm and Hardys Road.
• Road widening from the existing narrow width to a uniform width of 6.0m bitumen seal with 0.5m gravel shoulders.
• The inside of corners to be cleared of trees and widened to improve safety.
• The corner immediately south of Hardys Road to be realigned to remove the hairpin bend.
• The existing one lane McBrides Creek Bridge at Ferndene to be upgraded to a two-lane width.

Progress:

• 1.5kms of road has been reconstructed and sealed northwards from Mt Gnomon Farm.
• For the remainder of this section, works are continuing with clearing of trees from the road reserve, relocation of fencing and power poles, and placing of gravel for road widening.
• The embankment for the hairpin bend realignment has been completed and road surfacing is under construction.
