Mersey Leven Industrial Land Study - Update

4 December 2025

The Central Coast, Devonport, Kentish and Latrobe Councils have completed their first joint project since forming the Mersey Leven Strategic Alliance in September last year.

The Mersey Leven Industrial Land Study found that there is currently only 67.2ha of vacant industrial land available in the Mersey Leven region, which is equivalent to approximately 18 years’ supply. It suggests that regional councils should identify 20 – 30 years of supply and sets out how the four councils can deliver that in order to support jobs, attract investment, and ensure that existing businesses have room to grow. The study also proposes the concept of a Mersey Leven Major Enterprise Precinct near Devonport Airport, which would bring together a cluster of sites to support large-scale industries, and could serve as a catalyst for further joint work in the area of investment attraction.
