About

Mersey Leven Industrial Land Study

The Mersey Leven Strategic Alliance – Central Coast, Devonport, Latrobe and Kentish Councils – has worked together to prepare the Mersey Leven Industrial Land Study. This is the first joint project of the Alliance, and it sets out how we can plan for future industrial land across the region. Having the right land available is essential to support jobs, attract investment, and ensure our local businesses can grow.

The study looks at current supply, future demand, and possible new sites for industrial activity in each council area. It also proposes the concept of a Mersey Leven Major Enterprise Precinct near Devonport Airport, bringing together a cluster of sites to support large-scale industries. The outcomes will influence where future businesses and jobs are located, how land is zoned, and how Councils can advocate for growth that benefits the whole region.

Community feedback will help shape the final study. You can tell us if you agree with the analysis, support or have concerns about the identified options, or if there are other opportunities or risks we should consider. Input will be used to refine the study before it goes to each Council for endorsement in November 2025.

The draft study is open for consultation from 6 October to 19 October 2025.
