Council has developed a long-term infrastructure plan for the area, looking at how we can improve connections, accessibility, and public spaces over time.
What’s included
The plan identifies potential upgrades across Heybridge, including:
- New and improved footpaths
- Kerb and channel works
- Opportunities to improve stormwater infrastructure (to be considered alongside future footpath works)
- Local street improvements, including shared zone treatments
- Future play space improvements, aligned with the Open Space Plan
It also recognises the importance of broader projects, such as the Coastal Pathway, which is being considered separately as part of regional work.
How projects will be prioritised
The identified works are not funded or scheduled for delivery at this stage.
Instead, they form part of Council’s:
- Long-term planning
- Term Plan and capital works program
- Ongoing prioritisation of projects based on need, funding, and strategic alignment
Footpath improvements, in particular, will be delivered over time as part of Council’s Draft Active Transport Strategy, which focuses on improving safe walking and cycling connections across the Coast.
How this fits with other plans
The Heybridge Community Infrastructure Plan aligns with broader Council strategies, including:
- Open Space Plan – guiding future play spaces and open space improvements
- Draft Active Transport Strategy – guiding footpath and pathway connections across the network
What happens next
Council will use this plan to:
- Inform future budget decisions
- Guide staged delivery of infrastructure upgrades
- Respond to community priorities as opportunities arise
We’ll continue to share updates as specific projects are funded and scheduled.
