July 2025 Update

1 July 2025

Council is pleased to announce the completion of the Bertha Street Outfall Extension project. This initiative is a significant step towards addressing flooding concerns in our community by enhancing the overall drainage system in the area.

The project involved extending the main drainage outfall located at Picnic Point Beach. A stormwater outfall is a crucial component of our drainage infrastructure, where rainwater collected in drains and pipes is released back into the ocean. This outfall serves as the endpoint of the drainage system, ensuring that excess rainwater is directed away from streets and buildings, thereby helping to prevent flooding in urban areas.

This project is one of the many ways Council is working to improve our community’s resilience to flooding and enhance the safety and well-being of our residents.
