April 2025 Update

1 April 2025

What’s Happening:

  • During works a section of the beach will be fenced off.
  • For the duration of the project, machinery will be parked in the toilet carpark to the west of the caravan park. This area will be fenced off and have security cameras installed to ensure safety of equipment.
  • Contractors will move equipment to and from the beach via caravan park entrance, noise and disruption will be kept to a minimum and road will not be closed.
  • There may at times be sound disruption during the project, specifically during piling.
  • Once the project is complete there will be a 1.2m-wide black plastic pipe, sitting on a timber structure visible on the beach. This will be less visible at high tide and beach users will be able to still walk the length of the beach with parts of the pipe being undergrown.

Project Timeline:

  • Construction is scheduled to begin on 01 May 2025 and is scheduled to finish by the end of August. The duration of the project will be dependent on weather conditions and any unforeseen challenges.
  • Work on this project needs to occur during winter to ensure minimal impact on local penguin and shorebird populations.
  • Work may occur early in the morning or late in the afternoon to work around tides and daylight.
