About
About the Project
Central Coast Council is working to improve our roads and make them safer and easier to use every day.
Following a road safety audit completed in 2023, the West Pine Road Upgrade project has been initiated to widen the first 1.5km of West Pine Road in Penguin, from the Creamery Road intersection through to Porters Road.
The Creamery Road intersection has been recognised as a high-risk location for potential crashes by the Australian Government Black Spot Program.
The upgrade will be delivered in two stages. During construction you may see stop/go traffic control and experience short delays at times.
Current status
Council is currently requesting tenders for the Stage 1 construction contract.
If the tender is awarded as planned, works are expected to start mid-2026.
What’s next
- Stage 1 is planned to be completed by November 2026.
- Stage 2 is planned for delivery as part of Council’s 2027–28 infrastructure program.
What Stage 1 includes
Stage 1 works focus on the Creamery Road end of the project and include:
- Road resurfacing and improved visibility at the Creamery Road intersection
- Reshaping the uphill roadside embankment to improve visibility
- Widening and strengthening the road to create a consistent 6-metre-wide surface
- Improved stormwater drainage (including replacement culverts and roadside drains)
- New guardrail on the downhill side
- Improvements to existing driveways and access points
- Relocating public services away from the road edge
- Additional caution signage
Stage 2
Stage 2 will deliver similar improvements along the remaining 800 metres up to Porters Road.
