About the Project
We’re upgrading facilities within the Ulverstone Showground Precinct to better support local sport and community use. Works include new changerooms for the Ulverstone Soccer Club, installation of an efficient underground irrigation system to conserve water, and construction of a new sealed car park at the Community Shed.
The Ulverstone Soccer Club, based within the Ulverstone Showground Precinct, operates from a small weatherboard building and aging changeroom facilities. Over the past decade, participation in soccer has grown significantly, with the Club now the largest sporting organisation in the Central Coast.
To support this growth, Council has secured $434,000 in funding from the Tasmanian Government to contribute to the construction of new changerooms that meet modern standards for accessibility, inclusion and functionality.
Council engaged Milton Smith Building Design + Develop to prepare the designs in close consultation with the Ulverstone Soccer Club. The final plans deliver two large changerooms that can also operate as four smaller changerooms for junior teams, along with separate umpire facilities and new public toilets, including a DDA-compliant cubicle.
The new facilities will not only support the continued success of the Club but will also benefit the wider community by improving amenities within the showground precinct. The changerooms will support the Club to meet the licence requirements of the National Premier League and Women’s Super League competitions for 2026 season.
To make way for the new construction, the existing ‘old boozer’ building and a small amenities block will be removed.
To support the long-term sustainability of the Ulverstone Showground, Council is installing an underground irrigation system to improve turf quality and reduce manual watering requirements.
The new system will deliver consistent coverage across the sports fields, conserve water through automated scheduling, and ensure the grounds remain in good condition for year-round use. It will also improve the efficiency of maintenance operations by reducing the need for staff to transport irrigators during the summer months.
This upgrade supports a wider vision to improve the condition of the playing surface, while reducing the maintenance costs across sports facilities across the Central Coast.
This project seeks to provide the Community Shed with new access from Alice Street and a dedicated car park for the Shed. Funded through a $50,000 grant from the Tasmanian Men’s Shed Association, the car park will provide a suitable parking option for members who have mobility challenges.
