The Anzac Park Rocketship play area has now been fenced off as works get underway to prepare the site for refurbishment.

Crews will remove the soft fall and prepare the Rocketship for careful removal later this week. The Rocketship will then be taken off site for refurbishment before returning to Anzac Park as part of the upgraded play space.

This project follows community feedback on the future of our parks and playgrounds, where people shared how much the Rocketship means to local families.

First opened in 1973, the Rocketship has been part of local childhood memories for more than 50 years. The upgrade will celebrate the original Rocketship while making the play space safer, more inclusive and ready for a new generation.

Council is aiming for the Rocketship to return by summer and will continue to share updates as the countdown continues.
