Rocketship update: off on its next mission 🚀

28 May 2026

The Anzac Park Rocketship has now been carefully removed from site and is officially off on its next mission -refurbishment.

Crews have been preparing the site this week, including removing the soft fall and checking how the Rocketship was embedded, before carefully lifting it out in one piece.

The Rocketship will now be assessed and refurbished off site, with the aim of reusing as much of the original structure as possible.

This is an important step in preparing the much-loved play feature to return to Anzac Park as part of a safer, more inclusive and refreshed play space.

First opened in 1973, the Rocketship has been part of local childhood memories for more than 50 years. This upgrade will help prepare it to re-open for a new generation.

Council is aiming for the Rocketship to return by summer and will continue to share updates as the countdown continues.
