Precinct 10: Blythe River Corridor
The Blythe River Corridor, including Cuprona, is mainly made up of natural open space along the Blythe River and within the Blythe River Conservation Area.
These areas are important for nature conservation and also support informal recreation such as bushwalking and water-based activities.
What is already here
The precinct does not currently have any Council-owned local parks or playgrounds.
This reflects the area’s small population and rural setting. In nearby Heybridge, residents can access a local playground at Fire Station Reserve, as well as another non-Council-managed playground near the river mouth.
Bushland trails are provided in the Blythe River Conservation Area. There is an opportunity to connect these trails with a future trail network in Heybridge.
Access to larger parks and open spaces
Residents of the Blythe River Corridor rely on nearby townships for larger recreation spaces.
The precinct’s broader open space needs are mainly met in Penguin, with key parks such as Penguin Recreation Ground and Hiscutt Park only a short drive away.
