Significant flooding and storm damage in October 2022 led to landslips, creating safety risks on Lowana Road.

Council has completed the following repairs:

• Construction of a gabion retaining wall
• Installation of a cut-off drain
• Upgrading culverts
• Subsoil drains
• Demolition and rebuild of the road pavement

• Improved Road Safety: Stabilizing the slope and reinforcing road infrastructure will reduce the risk of accidents caused by landslips and flooding.
• Long-Term Infrastructure Stability: The gabion retaining wall and French drains will prevent further landslips, ensuring the road remains safe and usable.
• Reduced Maintenance Costs: By addressing the root cause of the damage, the project will reduce the need for frequent repairs in the future.
• Environmental Protection: The project’s focus on proper drainage and slope stabilization helps protect the surrounding environment from further erosion and damage.

The project was funded by Central Coast Council and the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements.
