Mount Montgomery eco-friendly rest stop now open!

New eco-friendly rest stop facilities have opened at Mount Montgomery, providing improved amenities for the many walkers, riders and visitors who enjoy one of the Dial Range’s most popular destinations.

What’s new

With support from $431,000 in Australian Government funding through the Investing in Our Communities Program, the upgrade includes:

  • A new sustainable toilet that uses captured rainwater, supported by a surrounding rain garden
  • Wash-down and basic repair facilities for riders
  • A boot-wash station to help improve biosecurity
  • A refreshed picnic area, including new visitor shelters
  • An expanded car park (now 36 spaces), including two accessible bays

Designed with sustainability in mind

Council also took an eco-friendly approach to the car park extension by:

  • Using recycled concrete crushed into road base
  • Mulching removed trees for reuse in garden beds

These upgraded facilities have been delivered in line with the Dial Range Recreation Management Plan and are now open to the public.
