To celebrate the Big Penguin being featured in Australia Post and the Royal Australian Mint’s new “Big Things” stamp and coin collection, Central Coast Council is inviting children to take part in a Big Penguin themed art competition.

How to Enter

  • Who can enter: Primary-aged children, in two age groups:
    • 5–7 years
    • 8–10 years
  • What to enter: One Big Penguin themed artwork per child. Accepted formats include drawings, paintings, collages, digital artwork, or a photo of a 3D creation.
  • How to enter:
    • Artwork must be uploaded below by a parent or guardian who is a registered user of My Central Coast.
    • Each entry must include the child’s first name and age.
  • When to enter: The competition opens 27 September 2025 and closes at midnight on 12 October 2025 (end of school holidays).

Prizes

  • One winner will be chosen from each age group (5–7 years and 8–10 years).
  • Winners will each receive a Big Things prize pack, including the Big Penguin coin.
  • Entries will be judged on how original and inventive they are.
  • Winners will be selected by Mayor Cheryl Fuller.

Entries will be displayed publicly below as part of the competition gallery, and may also feature in Council’s publications, website, and social media.

  • Entrants must be primary-aged children (5–10 years old). Entries will be accepted in two categories: ages 5–7 and ages 8–10.
  • Only one entry per child will be accepted.
  • Artwork must be the entrant’s own original work. Mixed media, digital formats, and 3D photos are accepted.
  • AI-generated artwork is not permitted. Any entry created using AI tools will be disqualified.
  • Entries must be submitted by a parent or guardian who is a registered user of My Central Coast.
  • All entries must include the child’s first name, age, and location.
  • Entries must be received by midnight 12 October 2025. Late entries will not be accepted.
  • All entries will be publicly displayed on My Central Coast and may be republished in Council communications including website, newsletters, reports, and social media.
  • Prizes are not redeemable for cash and cannot be transferred.
  • The Mayor will judge the artworks, and the decision is final. No correspondence will be entered into.
  • Council reserves the right to disqualify any entry that does not comply with these conditions.
  • By entering, parents/guardians grant Council permission to use the submitted artwork for promotional purposes, with attribution limited to the child’s first name, age, and location.
  • The names of winners (first name, age, location) will be published on Council’s website and social media.
  • Privacy: Council will collect the child’s first name, age, location, and parent/guardian contact details for the sole purpose of administering the competition. All data will be managed in accordance with Council’s Personal Information Protection Policy (available at www.centralcoast.tas.gov.au)
